dal eats

ello mates!

i hope that all of you dalhousians out there had an excellent break from studying and are ready to be back in the barracks and to brave the inevitably long days that await us at the killam.  i don't know about you guys, but one of the most inconvenient things for me that comes along with long library days is the struggle of eating healthily.  the only snacks i really enjoy packing are fruits and veggies.  unfortunately, after 7 or 8 library days in a row, these snacks tend to lose their appeal and i fall victim to the unhealthy, carb-filled treats that tim horton's and the bistro provide.  i also find it difficult to bring sandwiches, salads, or wraps due to the soggy state they take on after 5 hours of sitting in my back pack.  i know that the grill and the booster juice in the SUB provide a decent selection of food and drinks, however i find that they are, for the most part, unhealthy and over-priced.

that is why i am so excited that the DSU has only extended their sodexo contract for one more year and is currently in the process of (potentially, with YOUR help) working out a better food deal for students.  this coming thursday, march 3rd (at 5:00 p.m. in the mcinnes room of the SUB), students will be given a chance to voice their opinions on what types of food they would like to see on campus after the sodexo contract expires.  this is an excellent opportunity to share ideas and really give some input into what you'd like food on campus to look like in the future.  whether it be vegan alternatives, better priced meals, or locally produced food, the possibilities really are endless - especially if the student support is strong enough!

i understand that many of you will likely be busy with getting back into the swing of things but i hope to see some of you there :)

be kind,

m
