hello hello hello!
the past few weeks of my life have been a little bit hectic for a number of reasons. after coming back to halifax from ontario (and after a million flight delays), it was definitely tough to get back into the swing of things. getting comfortable being back at my apartment, trying to focus on school, missing all of my faves at home, and running my campaign for the DSU elections were all tasks that seemed overwhelming at times. luckily, things finally straightened themselves out and i am somewhat back into a normal, every day routine.
so i want to send out a huge thank you to those that have helped me along in my most recent adventure - those who have supported me in my bid for undergraduate senate representative at the dalhousie senate, you are stars. i was definitely stepping out of my comfort zone by running for the position, but luckily the positive people that i have surrounded myself with have made it a lot easier than i ever could have imagined it to be.
so thank you to all the girls that helped me out with the making of my campaign video (featured below) and to all of those who hyped it up on facebook. it may seem like such a small thing to you all but it really meant the world to me.
i would also like to thank meg urquhart who created my lovely campaign poster, and to ryan for helping me make the other one. and to all the rest who offered their support, unconditionally.
the elections have made me realize how many wonderful people i have in my life, and to you i am so very thankful. to all of you who have sent me positive messages, posted your support on facebook or twitter, lent me your time and support for my video, asked your friends to vote, or simply just mentioned a few encouraging words in passing (especially around campus) - THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!
it was truly eye-opening to see how many people were willing to get involved with no prompting. it just goes to show the real warmth and character of the student body here at dalhousie, and i cannot wait to see the direction that school spirit takes in the coming months and years.
so once again, i cannot thank all of you enough. you are all stars and i am so grateful for your presence in my life! i will leave you with some words from my lovely pal, amy bhesania. a literary genius, if you will.
For Margaret, our newly inducted SENATOR:
There comes a time in every person's life where they have to make that difficult choice between growing up and holding onto childhood ideals and ways of life. This time can be particularly turbulent for maturing adolescents as we breech the gap between teen and adult. Thankfully Dalhousie University has chosen an outstanding candidate to represent them in all ways Senator-y and much much more. Margaret, we look forward to having you navigate the campus of Dalhousie with absolute adherence to all things fun, as to make this transition easier for all of us. You can now share your extended knowledge on all things Dalhousie, and I hope that as Senator you run seminars on things like "How To Funnel A Beer", and "How To Punch A Bowl", or "The Real Uses For The Fifth Floor Of The Killam" so that your true understanding of what it means to be a Dalhousie student can be extended and shared to the general population.
The campus has spoken, and in the words of your namesake, the great Margaret Thatcher, "If you want something said, ask a man; if you want something done, ask a woman."
